Android usually predetermines the applications we use to open files and that is why we explain how you can change them. In this note!
When we install an application in Android and it is similar or fulfills the same role as another one that we already had, the system usually asks us which one we want to open, execute or complete with a certain action, whether it is opening a file, viewing a link, etc. The goal of setting default apps is to avoid the constant system prompt and have the app we want open when we want it. But sometimes we make a mistake and check “always open with” and then we can’t change it.
For example, if we have two applications to open a PDF we can configure which of them we want to use each time we open a document. And if you have never paid attention to the message that probably appears when you do not have a default application to open according to the function, rest assured that we are going to explain how you can configure your default applications.
To configure an application and prevent it from Android it asks us all the time with which application we want to complete the action, we have to do the following. First, go to Setting, look for the tab Applications (or Apps)select default apps and there we will see all the options we have to configure. Once on that screen, we can choose the application that we want to open for the corresponding function.
Something that you can also do is go in application by application and select the default function that you want it to do. But…what if you chose the wrong app? This is very simple, since we have to go to Setting, appsselect the one we want to change, press open by default and just click Delete or Clear Defaults.
This is not the only way to revert the selection of a default application. If it doesn’t show up Remove or Clear Default Preferences, you can reset the application. For that we just have to go to Setting, apps, select the one we want, go to the section Storage and press Delete data. And that’s it, you no longer have to worry that, for example, every time someone sends you their location by WhatsApp will open by default with uber or some other similar application.
