Valve talks about a possible Steam Deck 2.
The Steam Deck has arrived as a very interesting portable alternative. Valve’s console is very popular and now that it has been a year since its launch, the question of whether an improved version could see the light is in the air. While many people enjoy this machine, they also agree that it isn’t perfect; so a Steam Deck 2 could make up for these shortcomings.
One of the things that makes this Valve Steam Deck great is that the company is always willing to maintain communication with its users in order to improve the console software. Something that has been seen in the number of post-launch updates, all this makes the Steam Deck’s lifespan is still far from over.

Steam Deck could offer us a second version a year after its launch
To celebrate this first year of life, Rock Paper Shotgun has invited engineer Pierre-Loup Griffais and designer Lawrence Yang. So, both people have confirmed that they still have many improvements for the console, so in the future it is very likely that we will see new updatesso users can really rest easy.
Of course, not only have these pending improvements been discussed, but they have also talked about Ray Tracing and HDR support for external screens. Therefore, it is not at all surprising that the name of a future Steam Deck 2 has come around. Although if it ever takes place, it seems that it is not yet the time.
A true next gen Steam Deck with a significant increase in power would not be possible for a few years.
So now you see, those people who were worried about the possible release of a Steam Deck 2 and that the first one was left without support, for now you can rest easy. Valve wants to remain focused on offering the best service with the first model and continue to gradually improve its product.
Even so, Yang does not close the door on a small mid-generation update, as has happened with the Nintendo Switch and its OLED version, for example. This is something that the Steam Deck community would welcome, although above all they also demand a bigger battery. For the moment we will have to wait to see what they surprise us with.
