Rumor has it that Warner Bros. is working on an animated Batman Beyond movie. This project, apparently, began to form before James Gunn and Peter Safran were in charge of DC Studios. Read the details in this note!
A new rumor recently surfaced stating that Warner Bros. would have in development an animated film of nothing more and nothing less than Batman Beyond. Although it may be difficult for some lovers of this superhero, do not get too excited. Because? Apart from it being a rumor, this project started before the reorganization of DC Studios and the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
The data came out from the podcast The Hot Mic, where jeff sneider said Warner Bros. has hidden a Batman animated. According to the insider, this potential film went into development under the leadership of the (now former) director of DC, Walter Hamada, and would serve as a response to the movies of Into the Spider-Verse of sony.
That the rumored animated film of Batman Beyond was born during the leadership of hamada makes the possibility that Gunn the gate is even bigger, especially if it does not match your new vision of the DCU. However, we also have to keep in mind that there will be movies under a non-universal banner known as elseworldswhere the trilogy will enter batman of Matt Reeves and the franchise joker of Todd Phillips. So maybe (and if it comes to fruition) the animated installment could also enter there.
So far it seems that this project of Batman Beyond keep going. It’s more, sneider mentioned that Daniel Casey (writer of fast & furious 9) has already written several drafts for the release, which would be in the early stages of development.
Now, we don’t have to confuse this project with the live-action movie of Batman Beyond that I was going to have michael keatonwhich we remember was cancelled.
The animated movie Batman Beyond could be based on the 90s series (of the same name) where an old man bruce wayne train the Dark Knight of the next generation: Terry McGinnis. All this occurs in 2052 in Neo-Gotham, a futuristic megalopolis with great technological advances, but which suffers a serious increase in corruption and insecurity in its streets due to the absence of Batman.
We’ll see if James Gunn says something about the project and if the animated film stands firm for the future of DC Studios or if they prefer to cancel it to focus on the new vision of the DCU.
