The new PC Fútbol has been delayed, and that – unfortunately – is no longer news. The first release date has been set for December 20, 2023. The last one took us to August 7th. at 19:30h. It's been 24 hours and we're still waiting for a move from the developer Una Partida Más. At this point, not only do we assume that it hasn't come out, but we're still waiting for confirmation that it has been delayed again well past the discount time. Needless to say, this is not normal.
At VidaExtra we stop counting the delays. Before closing July it was assured that it would be finished and fully playable on August 5th. The statement asking fans and players for more time no longer came from the website or the X account (which has not posted a tweet for weeks), but directly from an email sent to the sponsors in which, in addition to moving the release two days, it was promised that a video would be uploaded to the YouTube channel. At the time of writing these words, We have neither one thing nor the other.
The email, which can also be read on the PC Fútbol forums courtesy of the sponsors, alluded to new problems related to the game's databases. These being the reason for the existence of the game itself.
“Dear sponsor,
We are very sorry to inform you that we need to postpone the launch to Wednesday at 19:30h due to an issue with the transfer section not being reconnected correctly, causing unexpected behavior with the database. We are finishing fixing it, but we will not be able to release it today Monday. Tomorrow at 18h we will upload a video of the game to YouTube while we make sure the version is correct.”
PC Football 8 It is not for sale on Steam, since, as Hector Prats from Una Partida Más told us, it is in a very advanced phase to be released through Valve's early access program. However, beyond the commitment, there are reservations made. What's more, it is still possible to purchase it directly through the official website. A website that, in fact, continues to indicate that it will arrive on June 7th when doing a quick search on Google.
Where is PC Football 8?
PC Football 8 exists. They are neither edited videos nor screenshots created with an editor. At VidaExtra we attended a press conference in which we were shown live a version to which He still had a lot of development ahead of himThe double question here is whether it is worth taking it out at all costs or continuing to gain time indefinitely.
The other reality is that, little by little, the launch of PC Football 8 is getting closer and closer to that of the new Football Manager and EA Sports FC 25 itself. Something that does not play in favour of the initiative. Where is the game and why is it not released? Prat's answer is that the plan is to release it finished, and not as a beta or something half-finished.
“We're going to give early access because it doesn't have everything we want. But the game is going to be fully functional. It's not like the simulator is going to suddenly lose the ball there. In fact, you've seen all the times we've delayed the game for any kind of bug and we could say that it's a “no, no, it's just a beta.” But we don't want it to be.”
And yet, the dates and deadlines that have been given, both through official channels and via email, make it difficult for us to take the launch seriously. Let's hope that, at the very least, the problems with the presentation – of which they are perfectly aware – have been fixed.
We will have to wait for a version that we can play before drawing conclusions about what is and what should be a new PC Football. We will continue to wait for it to be ready and see if the expectations of one of the biggest video game sagas made in Spain are met. We know that there is a version made (that is not finished) and we want to believe that it will be released, but it is difficult to see how well it will cope with the weight of its own acronyms if we do not have a clear picture of the launch plans. And by plans we do not mean dates, plural, set arbitrarily.
