The long-awaited expansion for Elden Ring has been made official today, after many months of rumors about the first extra story content for the FromSoftware game. The announcement of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtreewhich is what this expansion is called, has not offered too many details, much less a release date.
We have not obtained a teaser, trailer or moving image of any kind either, since the study only wanted to inform the community that it is working on a first expansion for Elden Ring, publishing An art Of the same. But this art has only triggered the imagination of game fans, filling the net with theories.
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree: Sequel or Prequel?
As can be seen in said art shared by the studio, a rider of golden hair and braids rides to the Erdtree on the back of Torrent, the horse that accompanies us throughout the Elden Ring adventure. At first glance, this figure could well be that of a woman, however, fans believe that it could be Miquella, Malania’s twin brother.
One of the many theories emphasizes that Miquella has awakened from the cocoon she is locked in to find the Erdtree completely consumed by Godwyn’s Deathroot, as its deformed body is still growing and taking over the roots. Others think that Miquella may well have been Torrente’s former master, even suggesting that the DLC takes place before the events of the main game.
In the case of confirming that miquellaa key character of the game that only appears as such after defeating a secret boss, appeared or was the protagonist of this first Elden Ring expansion, this would imply that the DLC would be a sequel.
But be careful, because many fans do not agree with this idea, since they argue that who is actually seen in the image is Marika arriving in the Middle Lands on the back of Torrentera, in which case it would be a prequel.
