In life, Azami was one of Kirie Goshima's classmates and, as we could see in chapter 3 of the manga, she became one of the first victims of the curse of the spirals which was slowly taking over Kurouzu. She was extremely popular with the boys around her, however, her crush was Shuichi Saito, Kirie's boyfriend.
