We knew that Akuma It was going to be a wild beast in Street Fighter 6, but we did not expect that what was officially shown was just the appetizer: Capcom has not only put the finishing touch to the first season of the game, but has given it an additional gift to the fans of the master of the Fist by allowing them unlock during the game up to two new secret Super Arts and some new special techniques. Something that can even be activated in online modes, for the record. However, you may not see it in competitive play. Let's go by parts.
First things first: officially, Akuma (or Gouki) joins Street Fighter 6 as the fourth and final fighter in Season Pass 1. You can buy him in-game, but you will also find them in the World Tour to teach him his moves with your own character. So much for what was already known. The novelty is that in the Battle Hub, the online room, there is a stronger version of it during the Gigant Attack event that we can face called SiRN Akuma. And although it is not a transformation as such, we can unleash that same power during the game.
How to activate Akuma's secret attacks in Street Fighter 6
Unlike the powerful Shin Akuma and its activation in previous games, the trick to unlocking the attacks and strengths of SiRN Akuma It is not done before starting the game, but during it. And not only that, but it has a non-negotiable requirement: that the opponent does not hit you for more than 20 seconds. If possible, let him stay still.
The process itself is relatively simple and is summarized in making two taunts. In Street Fighter 6 You can taunt the enemy by pressing all the punch or kick buttons at once, although it is much more convenient to simply assign that action from the control settings. Additionally, you can perform different taunts depending on the direction you use before executing it. With that clear:
- The first step is perform Akuma's taunt with backward direction. If it doesn't come easily, assign the taunt action to the Menu button on the Xbox controller or the Touch Pad on the DualSense. Then you will see how your character relaxes and sits with his back to the rival.
- In this state, and during the taunt animation, Akuma will challenge his opponent and turn his head towards him. Once you take your eyes off the enemy and complete the taunt, the key moment arrives: our character will lower his head and at that moment we must perform a second mock downwards before he rejoins. If it turns out well, you will get a huge ball of rice.
- Now comes the delicate part, since Akuma will eat the rice ball almost unhurried, so you will be completely vulnerable during the process. As compensation, each bite will give us a full bar of the Super Arts meter.
- Finally, Akuma will wipe his mouth (will have all three bars of Super Arts maxed out) and we will see a flash in their eyes and an aura will be unleashed that confirms that the process has been completely completed.
For reference, the process requires almost 30% of the time of a 99-second round. It takes forever. And not only that, since once that round is over it will be necessary to do the process again if we want to activate it again. A lot of watering, it's clear. In return: Akuma will have no less than seven Super Arts while most characters only have three. And the two new ones are devastating.
SiRN Akuma's three new moves
That Akuma fully charges all three levels of Super Arts is no coincidence. Two of the new techniques after activating his upgrade will require at least two of these power bars. The third is not a Super Art, but a special move. But it is brutal and we can do it whatever we want, without limits and indiscriminately.
Kongou Kokuretsuzan
- Debut: final Street Fighter Alpha 2 / playable on Street Fighter III
- Cost: 2 charges of Super Art
- How to do it: Down, Down, Down and then the three Punch buttons at once
Akuma condenses his energy in the palm of his hand and delivers a brutal punch directly towards the ground that causes a wide pillar of ascending Dark Hadou. Very fast and perfect to surprise or cancel any initiative. Furthermore, if he hits it squarely he gets up to nine hits of enormous damage.
Misogi
Akuma unleashes his power and makes a powerful instant jump that makes him disappear from the screen. Before a second passes, he accurately impacts the rival, dividing the image itself into two halves, generating a large amount of damage while completely disabling his prey.
Double Zanku Hadoken
- Debut: Super Street Fighter II Turbo
- Cost: None
- How to do it: jump towards the opponent, a quarter turn backwards and two punch buttons
Only when jumping towards the rival. Akuma deploys two Dark Hadou projectiles from the air, each with a different trajectory, expanding its range. It also serves to stop his fall in case of any enemy initiative.
None of these techniques are shown from Akuma's move listings. However, accessing them requires a certain complicity with the opponent if we play online or with two controllers given the slow process to activate the state of SiRN Akuma. Being, for practical purposes, more of a gift for fans of the fighter as a trick than a strategy capable of breaking the balance of the game.
In any case, this enhanced version of the Master of the Fist is waiting to be challenged from the Battle Hub as a rival and we do not rule out that there are more secrets like this in Street Fighter 6.
