the saga Alien It has been offering scenes and sequences of true terror in space with creatures of all kinds since the 80s. However, until now, the franchise has not yet dared to set foot on Earth at any time for reasons that are still unknown to us.
Well, it seems that this option was considered quite some time ago, specifically, during the pre-production of Alien 3. This is what the original director of the film has told us, Renny Harlinto SlashFilm, revealing at the same time that his plan was to take the Xenomorphs to a cornfield.
“I started working on Alien 3 in '89, before Jurassic Park and all those movies. So the concept of having these creatures on Earth for the studio seemed terrifying and unattainable. To me, it was natural evolution. We had Alien with the truckers in space, we had Aliens with the marines in space, and now what do we do? Let's bring the aliens to Earth and make them go through a cornfield. I already had the poster with the farm and the cornfield in mind. the moonlight, and them going through the cornfield. To this day, I think it would have been a great success because it would have been the first time something like that had been done. But, for whatever reason, the studio thought, 'Ah. , the public won't buy it.'”
Harlin's idea was clear: repeat the formula of the two previous installments, but this time with the Xenomorphs on Earth, chasing humans in a cornfield, a place that has become an icon of extraterrestrial life in popular culture.
The film would have been very interesting, but Fox did not fully trust this plan and chose to look for a new director. That new filmmaker was David Fincherwhich, although it created a competent film, moved away from the quality to which the saga had accustomed us at that time.
