During the Mobile World Congress, Xiaomi became the manufacturer with the fastest charging in the world. As? Presenting a 300W charger that can reach 100% of a smartphone with a 4,100 mAh battery in just 5 minutes. Read more details here!
Do you remember that recently Realme threw the GT Neo 5 with a 240 Watt charger and that completed its charge in less than 10 minutes?. Well, during the Mobile World Congress, Xiaomi he decided to beat that mark and cut that time in half. The Chinese company, more specifically its brand Redmi, presented a new fast charging technology capable of reaching 300W and charging 100% of a smartphone with a 4,100 mAh battery in just 5 minutes. We’re talking about the fastest charging in the world (so far).
In the demo, Xiaomi showed a 300W charger charging the battery of the Redmi Note 12 Pro+, which they had modified and equipped with a 4100 mAh battery (the actual capacity of this smartphone is 5000 mAh). From what we see in the presentation of the Chinese manufacturer, the device reaches 20% battery in less than a minute. Then, in a little over two minutes, it reaches 50% and completes it in less than 5. Unot crazy right?
As we told you at the beginning, the new 300W charging technology of Xiaomi leaves behind what had surprised us in the Realme GT Neo 5 in China and the fast charge that would include in the Realme GT 3 that they will announce during the Mobile World Congress. Let us remember that the Realme it reached 20% in 80 seconds, 50% in 4 minutes and 100% in about 10 minutes on a 4,600 mAh battery.
To become the fastest charging manufacturer in the world so far, Xiaomi He clarified that the materials of the battery were modified a bit to allow reaching that charging speed without significantly affecting the useful life of the device. What things changed? Some areas where graphite was used were replaced by carbon to reduce the thickness of the electrodes by 35%. This means that the battery now has a higher charging power density, as well as thermal materials on the cells that help dissipate heat.

In addition to that, the company assured that they added up to 50 security-related functions. These control, among other parameters, the voltage, current or temperature of the integrated charging chips.
Now, a question that some are probably asking is How will manufacturers combine fast charging with durability? After all, you have to take into account the impact that charging will have on the number of cycles of the battery. Let’s remember that the increase in heat generated by fast charging reduces the number of times the smartphone can be fully recharged. This is something that decreases the useful life of the phone, so we will see how they explain it and what solutions they found.

So far the load of 300W of Xiaomi It’s not on the market yet and they haven’t even announced when it’s coming to shipping products. We will have to wait for more news.
