The countdown to the start of the open beta Diablo 4 has started. Today, February 24, access to this trial version will open so that anyone can enjoy this preview for a few days. Until now, the only ones who could access it were those who pre-purchased the title, but this time that requirement has been completely eliminated.
However, you will only have a little over three days to play the beta all you want. That is why here you will be able to read a series of tips to make the most of your time during the weekend, in addition to being able to consult all the important information so that no detail is overlooked.
The first steps with your character
As soon as you start your game, the first thing the game will ask you is create the character you want. Last time around you could only choose the Barbarian, Sorcerer or Rogue, although this time the Necromancer and Druid will be joining the action. At that time, the game will allow you to customize your champion, being able to choose what his skin color will be like, his tattoos, his hair and a series of other details.
The truth is that nothing happens if you choose the first thing you get, because the characters you design will be exclusive to the beta. That assumes that each of them will be eliminated starting next week and you will not be able to use them in the final versionHence, it is useless for you to spend a long time selecting the options that most convince you.
Also, before starting the story, the game will ask you to select two more options. One of them is that help appears on the screen, as in the form of a tutorial, something that is not bad at all so that you have more clarity on what to do at all times. Regarding the other, it directly affects the difficulty, if you want everything to be easier or not in case you want to face a somewhat greater challenge.
On the other hand, they will also ask you to indicate if you want your character to be unconditional. You could say that this is the extreme difficulty mode, because it implies that your character will have a single life, so if he dies you will lose him forever and you will have to create a new one. Despite the fact that it is a good way to play, these days it is better that you pass this possibility by.
Eventually, as you level up, you’ll earn points to redeem for skills. Do not be afraid to select the ones you want, because at any time you can exchange points for other skills for free or in exchange for a few coins, which is great to implement all kinds of combinations without any problem.
beating the prologue
When you have created your character, the good stuff will really begin. The beta will place you from the beginning of the campaign, having to overcome a kind of prologue that will be limited to proposing a series of missions in a snowy area. The truth is that all these missions are really simple as they are designed solely for you to familiarize yourself with the controls and the abilities of your character.
If you are one of those who like the plot and do not miss any detail about it, then it is likely that the prologue alone will last about an hour. On the other hand, those of you who prefer to get more to the point, can also opt for it, since any of the cinematics and important conversations can be skipped without problems in order to get directly to the point.
Personally, I advise you not to skip anything with the first character you play, because there are some sequences that are impressive and worth watching over and over again. Of course, with the following ones, do not think twice and skip all this, because in this way it will only take you about 15 minutes to pass the prologue completely, saving you a lot of time. And yes, the prologue is mandatory to beat with each character.
What to do in the city of Kyovashad
When you pass this initial section of the adventure is when the game will grant you the possibility of roaming the world of Sanctuary with total freedom, but with some limits. More than anything because you will only be able to visit a huge portion of the Act I map, with some main missions and a good handful of secondary missions that are the ones that will keep you most entertained.
Before that, you will find yourself in the city of Kyovashad, which could be said to be the base of operations, because here there are shops of all kinds that are most useful. Some require you to level up or meet certain objectives, but the most basic ones will be waiting for you from the first minute so that you can make the most of them.
For this beta, since you’re going to be getting pieces of gear to give and take, don’t even bother buying anything that vendors can sell you. The best thing is that you sell them everything you get and don’t want, just as you can also decide to break them into materials that allow you to enhance the pieces of equipment in the town’s forge.
Apart from this, you also have at your disposal a stash to store in it everything you do not want to lose. However, the same thing happens here as with the characters, in the sense that once the beta ends you will lose everythingso don’t bother to save anything and sell everything, because in the forge they will ask you for a lot of money, so better invest the money in it.
Moving into the real action with Act I
In the icy wastelands of the area, hundreds and hundreds of demonic enemies await you to fight against. You will liquidate most of them without problems, but the most normal thing is that from time to time you come across world events. These are reflected on the minimap with a very striking red circle, so you only have to go to the place to participate in them.
Normally these challenges consist of eliminating a certain number of enemies in a certain time, including a mini-boss, in order to obtain a chest that contains very succulent rewards. Along with these are the legion eventswhich take place mainly in ruined fortresses where countless creatures await that you will also have to eradicate.
Without a doubt, all these types of events are very useful for quickly gaining experience and, incidentally, earning all kinds of rewards, so don’t hesitate to jump headlong into them every time they appear on the map. In another order of things, on the map you will see all the secondary missions that are given to youin order to go more directly to them to complete them.
On the other hand, the dungeons they follow the same example in terms of experience and rewards. The main problem is that these are very extensive, labyrinthine and most are very similar to each other. Although it is good to delve into them and finish them, in the long run it is a better idea to put your efforts into completing the events that are scattered around the world.
And that’s not all, because at certain times of the weekend you can join up with dozens of players to try to kill Ashava, one of the bosses of the world that will appear at certain times in the Broken Tops. To find him you will have to connect on Saturday, March 25 at 6:00 p.m. or 8:00 p.m. in Spain or also get up early to face him at 6:00 a.m. or 8:00 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, March 26.
At first this encounter may seem hellish and impossible, but it really has some very clear patterns to keep in mind, because if it touches you it is very likely that it will kill you with a single impact. So, these are the attacks to which you will have to be attentive:
- When he takes out his claws, he will start to spin, destroying everything, so it is better that you be attentive to this moment to get far enough away or even get under him. In any of these places you will not suffer damage every time it hits two or three turns.
- From time to time it will also take air and spread poison over a large part of the stage. That is why his thing is that you never stand in front of him, because the poison kills in just one or two seconds.
- In the same way, Ashava can bite or jump, so never stop moving everywhere, without placing yourself face to face, and above all, be very attentive to her movements to be clear when she will make each of these attacks.
The game itself will tell you where and when Ashava will come out, so if you go there a few minutes before it will be enough. In turn, it is recommended that you go for this imposing creature when you can, because it does not ask for any requirements to join the fight, and above all, pay close attention to everything it does to avoid dying.
Taking advantage of multiplayer
It is indisputable that multiplayer is one of the key features of the franchise, so it was not going to be an exception in this case. Getting together with friends will allow you to complete any event and dungeon even faster, although the difficulty will also increase the more people there are in the same group, up to a maximum of four players.
One of the functions that it incorporates is that, if you are in Kyovashad and another is in a dungeon, from the teleportation circle you can reach the place where another is instantly just by catching its corresponding portal. Another great way to speed up time so you don’t have to kick yourself until you reach the place where your teammates are.
And don’t worry about the object issue, because everything that the enemies drop is individual for each one. This means that the magical or rare objects that you receive will only be yours and others will appear to the rest, which does not mean that you can exchange them if you feel like it or throw them on the ground so that someone else can catch them.
Preparing everything for the trip to Sanctuary
If you have taken note of everything discussed so far, your trip to Sanctuary in the beta will be more satisfying, so all that remains is highlight a number of final points to consider:
- The test is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC from 5:00 p.m. on March 24 to 9:00 p.m. on March 27 (Spain time).
- The maximum level you can reach is 25, although you can continue playing from that point.
- You can only have a maximum of ten characters.
- You will gain 5% more experience when killing demons near another player and 10% if they are a friend in the same party.
An incentive to motivate users to play as much as they can is that they will get three rewards for meeting these objectives:
- Initial Low Title: You have to reach Kyovashad with a character.
- Advance Exploration Title: get level 20 with a character.
- Beta Wolf Pack cosmetic item: get level 20 with a character.
