We have already tried Harmony The Fall of Reverie, Don’t Nod’s Last Adventure, in which we play Polly, a young woman who returns after years away from what was once her home. For those who don’t know Don’t Nod, they are responsible for the Life is Strange saga, Vampyre or the most recent Tell Me Why. As you can see, it is a study that likes to delve into the human mind and touch on delicate topics and put them on display.
This proposal was not going to be less, and although we are faced with a proposal that once again has time as one of the axes of history, we will not be able to travel through it, but instead we will have to choose between several “possible futures” to advance in the story, leaving behind any other option that the timeline offers us. Having commented on this a little above, we are going to go into more fully and tell you what we thought was the first contact with Harmony The Fall of Reverie.

An interesting and direct story
This story created by Don’t Nod takes us to meet Polly, who returns home after many years away from everything. She doesn’t come back for pleasure, far from it, her mother has disappeared. Once at home, Polly will be dragged into an unknown world where he will meet the aspirations, some beings who will ask him for help to recover the power of the heart of his world, which is extremely weak. Nothing seems to be connected to the disappearance of her mother, until he discovers the connection between her, her mother, and the world he finds himself in, the world of Dreaming.

We do not want to reveal anything about the history of Harmony The Fall of Reverie, but we can tell you that starts fast and gets to the point from the beginning of the adventure, making it clear to you who Polly is and why the aspirations know her by the name of Harmony. This is appreciated since the development of the game keeps us glued to long conversations with the rest of the characters that appear, and with nothing else to do than choose what we want to do next, it is good to get into the matter early in the game.
Every decision counts, even if you think it doesn’t.
If I liked something about Harmony The Fall of Reverie, it is that decisions have real weight in history, taking us down various paths towards our ultimate goal. The way they take us through these decisions is called The Omen, a sort of timeline that branches off with different paths leading to different choices. Each choice will reward us with different items that we will need to continue advancing through The Omen, leaving behind any choice that we have ignored.
The process is very simple, after each scene they will transport us to the Omen, at which point we will have to choose one of the options that we have available. Not all the options that we see can be selected, since in some cases, unlocking that option will force us to have a certain number of crystals, to have gone through a previous election or to have had a specific conversation before.
It is at this point where you realize that to know all the ways of Harmony The Fall of Reverie you will have to repeat history again, changing your choices in order to know what would have happened if you chose the other option. Undoubtedly, this point is one of the strengths of the game, which, having the story as a base pillar, gives us a good handful of different paths, options and endings.
A relaxing and enjoyable game
If something stands out in the Don’t Nod games, it is their simplicity when it comes to playing. They tend to be quiet games, with little interaction with the controls, in which we carry out all the actions in the game with very few buttons, and Harmony The Fall of Reverie takes that to its maximum expression. Our only time of real interaction with the game is during decisions in The Omen.so it is a game accessible to everyone, regardless of the ability you have playing.
We will be mere spectators of the story that we are choosing, although this does not mean that Harmony The Fall of Reverie does not manage to hook us. It has characters that attract attention from the first moment you see them, wanting to know more about each one of them and the links that unite them. The truth is that you also have to take into account that this type of game is a double-edged sword, and with very, very sharp edges, since If the story doesn’t get you hooked, there’s nothing else that will..
An attractive and consistent design
The scenery and character design of Harmony The Fall of Reverie is very well cared for, with that hand-drawn aspect that follows in line with the rest of the game. Don’t expect great graphics or music that will increase your adrenaline, this game seeks the opposite and thus promote what Don’t Nod wants to promote, the story. Both in Atina and in the world of Dreaming, everything is up to what the game needs to convey what it needs in every moment.
Focusing a little more on the music, Harmony The Fall of Reverie is accompanied by rather simple musical themes that seek to connect with the player thanks to sad or happy melodies depending on what we see on the screen. Really They have managed to increase the weight of the scenes with the musicwhich makes a difficult decision feel sadder in just a few bars.
conclusions
After playing Harmony The Fall of Reverie for several hours, I must say that it is a game that faces the world relying only on a good story that captivates us from the beginning. As I mentioned, it suffers from the risk that if the story doesn’t grab you during the first few bars of the game, there is nothing else to keep you glued to the screen. However, I do believe that the story has enough elements to appeal to those players looking for compelling storieswho move away from more hectic games and who seek to have a pleasant experience at the controls.
