The One Piece anime is living one of its most important moments. The Wano arc is in its final stages and the most significant fights in the series are about to happen. Many believed that Toei Animation I would pick very well-known directors to direct these episodes, but it turns out that the company has opened its doors to the world and will make history this week.
As revealed by the director himself, the episode 1066 of One Piece will be directed for the first time in history by a Western artist. Is about henry thurlow, an American animator who joined Toei several years ago and has become a leading figure in anime today. He has announced it in his account Twitter.
“I, Henry Thurlow, will be the director of One Piece episode 1066 that airs this month. As far as I know (and as far as the production staff knew when I asked) there has never been a non-Japanese episode director for OP , or possibly any Toei Animation TV series… ever.”
Although artists from all over the world have participated in the anime as such (including Thurlow himself), none of them had had the opportunity to direct a chapter. It should be noted that it will not be just any chapter, since in this episode we will see how two pirates of the Worst Generation, Trafalgar D. Law and Eustass Kidthey will face the indomitable Big Mom.
Summer will be a dream season for fans of one piece: the anime will reach its most exciting moment, the manga will offer crucial information about the future of the story and Netflix will reveal more details about one of the live action most anticipated and feared in recent years.
