One player found a way to use his Up-n-Atomizer to kill his opponent in passive mode.
Although there are many free world action and adventure games on the market, Grand Theft Auto: Online is one of the most preferred by the audience. And the reasons to say this abound. First of all, GTA is one of the most popular sagas in the whole world. titles like GTA: Vice City or San Andreas left a mark behind him after a few decades of his releases in 2002 and 2004, respectively.
Secondly, and the reason why we are here, is that the nature of the game lends itself to being a huge battle arena where the player can find himself involved in difficult missions that he will have to overcome in order to level up. Of course, the shots and the adrenaline are part of this saga, even before it could be enjoyed online (whose requirement is to have Grand Theft Auto V installed, despite being considered as an independent installment). The mafia, the slums and other criminals that will cross your path is what makes Grand Theft Auto an exciting and immersive experience.
Passive mode arrives for GTA
Although many of the players will remember that in the past they could be discovered by the police or criminal gangs during some mission, there were not many options that protected the fan from falling into the wrong hands. Thus, they were forced to escape as soon as possible and wait until they stopped looking for them to continue with their objectives. Or at least, in Vice City, San Andreas and others the dynamics only allowed the player to face NPCs.
However, the gameplay of GTA has been greatly modified after the arrival of its online multiplayer version, of course without losing the essence of the crudest saga we’ve seen for decades. Before, of course, it was impossible for you to be the target of a third party who was playing their own mission; therefore, if you happened to be in their way, you could die unexpectedly.
To fix this problem that arose with GTA Online, Rockstar included a passive mode, which protects the player from external attacks, such as being unable to harm others. It’s an interesting method, considering that it involves the solution of killing unwitting opponents from other games. Although it has its own requirements, it is available to most users.
A player found a way to break the passive mode of GTA: Online
As we mentioned, the passive mode is designed so that players cannot be targeted by others. However, although it can avoid damage or certain attacks, its function is not limited to its own actions, but rather prevents users from organizing to actively attack in combat with others. The latter to make sure it’s a fair game for everyone.
Apparently such a solution would solve any attack, but a GTA Online player has shown that with a little creativity, passive mode will no longer be effective. The user in question shared on his Reddit account, BobRoss10010100, a short video in which he appears throwing dream debris into the air. During their journey, before landing, they hit another player who, pushed by the force of the block, falls on the highway and finally dies. Here you can see it:
Respecting the principles of passive mode, the player of Grand Theft Auto: Online he did nothing that directly harmed his opponent. Perhaps for this reason the passive mode did not prevent him from taking the action that ended up killing him.
In theory, this way should have blocked any move that would affect the other playerno matter how indirect. But, in reality, there is a debate behind it, since prohibiting this use of the Up-n-Atomizer would not be the appropriate measure either. In any case, credit to BobRoss10010100 for his cleverness in using his Up-n-Atomizer, which is designed to launch things with a burst of energy, as seen in the video above.
Be that as it may, Rockstar Games will have to think very carefully about how to ensure that players do not find ways to violate other players; especially because weapons have many functions that can be used in such hilarious ways like the one you just saw. Hopefully for GTA 6, the developers can stop this from happening anymore. Although knowing the fan community, they will always find ways to get away with it.
