Despite the fact that the real-time strategy genre has not been popular for a long time, the Age of Empires series has been doing very well in recent years. This year, the second volume celebrates its 25th anniversary since the release of the original version. For this occasion, Xbox has prepared a number of novelties related to the entire series. At the same time, he thanked all the players who tried one of the parts. Their number exceeds 50 million.
But now to the news. Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition will continue to grow. Victors and Vanquished expansionwhich comes out 14th March, but differs significantly from previous additions. The new content will mainly focus on single player. Solo you can experience 19 new scenarios in which you determine the fate of famous historical figures with your strategic abilities. The developers name, for example, Oda Nobunaga, Charlemagne or Ragnar Lodbrok.
Age of Empires is also coming to mobile. The Mobile version was shown off in the first short gameplay trailer. The Chinese TiMi Studio Group, which has ported Call of Duty or Pokémon Unite to mobile phones, is collaborating on it with Xbox. The gameplay in this version is supposed to stand on the foundations laid by the classic parts, but there will be news and modifications, thanks to which everything should fit better for mobile gaming. However, we do not yet know when AoE Mobile should be released. If you don't want to lose it, you can pre-register on Google Play and the App Store.
Last year we already saw the announcement of a complete remake Age of Mythology subtitled Retold. The Definitive Edition didn't quite do as well as it did with Age of Empires II, so another attempt to bring Arkantos' story back is welcome. We have to wait for him still summerwith when it comes out on PC and Xbox Series S|X at the same time. Czech will not be missing. But it's a little strange that so far the creators haven't shown us more than a trio of new unit models. So you can look at the modern version of Pegasus, Medusa and Cerberus. However, a proper example from playing would definitely not hurt either. Hopefully we'll find out more at the Xbox Summer Event.
Fans of other parts of the Age of Empires series will not be deprived either. Microsoft is celebrating the sales of the current latest expansion The Sultans Ascend for four. The next DLC is not planned yet, but it should come in the spring as part of the seventh season big update. Conversely, Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition will expand later this year by new DLC. We don't know much about it, but it should include Denmark and Poland as new nations.
So the plans are laid out, now the main thing is to make their implementation worthwhile. This is mostly true of Age of Mythology and the mobile spin-off. For the rest of the titles, Xbox already has everything well underway, and something would have to go very wrong for the community's view to change drastically.
