The next Assassin’s Creed games would be smaller in size and would include VR projects, multiplayer and one with an Aztec background. We tell you the details, in this note!
The first details of several titles that could be on the way for the Assassin’s Creed Saga have arrived, and it would be in the “conceptual” or “prototype” phase within Ubisoft. A number of reports suggest that Ubisoft Sofia (Assassin’s Creed Rogue) could make a game with multiple time periods, including India, the Aztec empire, and the Mediterranean – and it could be the rumored Assassin’s Creed Infinity. The other games would be various spin-offs.
The spin-offs reportedly include a free to play spin-off run by Ubisoft Chengdu where four players will play against the computer. Another project would be one in virtual reality. These would come at a time when Ubisoft needs to raise the company financially after a last year to be forgotten where low sales were added to multiple protests by employees due to working conditions and normalized harassment situations.
The low-selling games in particular were Just Dance 2023 and Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, which were well below expectations. Therefore, it is estimated that Ubisoft is playing it safe and betting on Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Tom Clancy. However, the games are not officially confirmed.
Marc-Alexis Coté, the director of the franchise, said that he wants “the other studios that contributed wonderful ideas to the franchise, for example Ubisoft Sofia when they made Assassin’s Creed Rogue” can do the same to take the saga in new directions. “Can a studio like Sofia impress our community with a project that isn’t necessarily a 150 hour product?,” he asked himself. “Because when we make a 150-hour product there is so much that rests on it commercially, that the project becomes key. Having Infinity will allow us to have more diversity in the periods that we choose to show and the gameplay that we want to have.”
