More games from the world may be created in the future Witcher and Cyberpunk. CD Projekt RED is considering licensing its brands to other developers who specialize in mobile titles.
Michał Nowakowski, CD Projekt's CEO and board member, admitted as much when a caller asked him during a Q&A. However, no plan is yet to be created and it is not established how the licensing of touch screens would proceed. The first option is to provide the Witcher and Cyberpunk to someone for a one-time fee. The second option is a profit share.
“Yes, we are considering such a move,” said Nowakowski when asked about licensing to mobile game developers. He added that some negotiations have already taken place, but they currently have nothing to announce. When the time is right, he will show off.
The witcher has already looked into the world of mobile games. It was released in the summer of 2021 The Witcher: Monster Slayer inspired by the hit Pokémon Go. The title was created by the Spokko studio, which belongs to CD Projekt. However, support for the game ended at the end of 2022 and the servers were shut down last summer. A mobile port of the card spin-off was also released for Android and iOS Gwent and separate extensions Thronebreaker. In this case, support ended in the fall of 2023. Cyberpunk hasn't looked at smart phones and tablets yet.
Today we also learned that CD Projekt RED has moved most of its staff to the development of the new Witcher. But they are also working on other projects in the Polish company.
