The season of summer video game events is nearing its end after most of the big companies in the industry have already shown what they had to show. However, it has once again been an incomplete June due to the new absence of the Electronic Entertainment Expobetter known as E3.
In this sense, and as we mentioned a few weeks ago talking about the increasingly uncertain future of the Los Angeles fair, now the Los Angeles tourism board itself has pointed out that the E3 2024 and 2025 would also be canceled. In fact, they are making their forecasts and plans taking into account that what was once the great video game event will not return in the coming years.
E3 2024 and 2025 would also be canceled
As you can see in the image above, shared by the user of resetter Rösti, the tourism board of one of the most important cities in the state of California, is making forecasts about the number of events and conventions that they will host each year. An asterisk in the section dedicated to fiscal year 22/23 indicates that “includes E3 cancellations for 2024 and 2025”.
This only confirms the worst omens about a fair that not long ago dominated the summer season of video games and that now has given way to individual events in which each large company manages the times at will, without sticking to a specific date. In case it is confirmed, although ESA has not yet made it official on its own, by 2025 we would have had only one edition of E3 in six years, showing the decline of the event.
Geoff Keighley says that E3 has committed suicide and that the Summer Game Fest is not to blame for its disappearance

For its part, last March Game Industry asked ESA if we would have a new edition of E3 in 2024. This was their answer.
“We are committed to providing a platform for the industry for marketing and convening, but we want to make sure we find the right balance that meets the needs of the industry. Of course we are going to listen and make sure that everything we want to offer meets those needs and then we will have more news to share”.
Although ESA did not speak specifically about the possibility of canceling the next two editions of E3, it is clear that they are in no hurry to return until they have found the correct formula. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles tourist board is pretty clear that they can’t count on E3.
