Before I even played the game, I wanted to check out the original Ghostbusters movie, yes, the one from 1984. Watching it reminded me why I loved it so much, and while playing Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed didn’t bring me any sort of sense of nostalgia, yes I quite liked the experience it has given me.
A not so easy hunt
Putting ourselves in the shoes of a Ghostbuster, we will venture into mansions where, no matter how difficult it may be for us, we will have to start a hunt against a ghost that, of course, will be controlled by another player, so yes, it will be quite arduous task of hunting the ghost. Among our tools to hunt the ghost, we will have an anomaly detector. This device serves to reveal the ghost in case it has taken the form of some inert object to hide from us. Once discovered, we will have to start his pursuit and capture. In this second phase our weapon and the ghost trap come into action, which will serve for that very thing, to hunt ghosts.
Even if you don’t think that the ghost under the other player’s control will be helpless. In fact, quite the opposite, since it will have abilities such as multiplying into many ghosts that will try to harm us, so we will have to eliminate them to discover the real ghost. If I’m honest, the game adapts quite faithfully to what the original Ghostbusters movie is because we have in our hands an entire arsenal of devices as in the feature film and have some entertaining mechanics to say the least. Although I have to say that the game can feel repetitive when you have been playing for a few hours.
Improved graphics

I’m not going to lie to you, this may be a point that can be criticized a lot if we take into account that we are already in the ninth generation of consoles. The game is quite sawtoothed and its graphics are even worse than other asymmetric multiplayer titles. Although it does not have to be exactly bad, since the title performs well on Xbox Series, which is where we have been able to play it.
For the rest, in the artistic section there is not much more to say, the graphics are very improvable, although not everything was going to be bad, since the special effects such as the beam of our weapon are quite careful and in general, any style effect. I don’t quite understand the neglect of game assets alongside polished effects, but I’m guessing Illfonic had his own reasons.
Cross the rays!

As for the online section, I have been able to notice a few jerks playing with LAN cable, although I imagine that it would not be a server thing, but a player that is causing said lag in the game. As for finding a game and therefore players, it is a bit complicated due to the fact that either you find but there are two of you with some bots or they disconnect for some reason that I cannot fully explain. These dropouts in the match only make it harder to hunt down the ghost, thus giving it a pretty noticeable advantage. Of course, it is very noticeable when one finds a good game where everyone works together to divide the tasks of looking for the ghost and calming the people inside the house or mansion, because yes, we can also calm people, since
