Google’s feature that uses AI to help you write emails, digests and more is coming to Gmail on Android and iOS. However, this tool, called “Help me write” or “Help me write”, is currently only available to those enrolled in Workspace Labs.
Have you ever gone blank or doubted a lot when having to send an email to a certain teacher, boss or institution? There are several things that we have to pay attention to in order to express ourselves properly. A very important one is the tone we use, after all we cannot talk to him as if he were our best friend. To fix this and help us, Google added a function to gmail (so much for Android as for iOS).
“Help me write” or “Help me write” is the new function gmail that uses Artificial Intelligence to (as its name makes clear) give us a hand to write emails. Until recently, this tool was only available on the gmail desktop, but luckily now comes to Android and iOS. How would it work? Basically you put the instructions, idea or subject of what you want to send by mail in a text box and the AI creates the message.
Before explaining this function in more detail, it should be clarified that “Help me write” or “Help me write” only available to those enrolled in the program Workspace Labs in Android and iOS. So if you are already a part or want to sign up to have access to this tool, keep in mind that everything you write and do will be under the eyes of Google, since they will be processing the interaction data for possible improvements. For this reason, it is recommended that they do not give out personal and confidential information. This also applies to other experimental functions related to Workspace Labs.
Now, let’s continue talking about how this tool works. Google with AI. Once you are in the program Workspace Labs, A button will appear at the bottom right of the email that says “Help me write” or “Help me write”. Before you use it, an introduction to generative AI prompt will open.
After that you will be able to start using this function Google. When you press that button, a text box will open where you will put what you would like the email to say. Below you will see that there is a button that says “creating”, which makes it clear that the tool is working. Once the draft is done, you have the opportunity to edit it.
When the text is already in what would be the email composition box, you will also be able to touch the button again to “Refine” the message in several ways: formalize, elaborate, shorten, write a draft and the option of “I feel lucky”. This will generate a new response, which you will also be able to “replace” if something does not convince you.
This function is part of Duet AI for Google Workspacea way of working that incorporates the power of generative AI into Workspace. They presented it in Google I/O of this year. In addition to helping you write in Gmail and Google Docs, organize and speed up workflows, Duet AI you can also create original images from text directly in Google Slides and turn ideas into data google spreadsheet, among other things.
