These are not good times for DC Studios. Two of the biggest stars in the film division have shown that their relationship is not perfect, which has come into conflict when it comes to representing the relationship between their characters. As pointed out from The Wrap, dwayne johnson vetoed the appearance of Zachary Levi in the Black Adam movie.
According to media sources, The Rock began to take a hierarchical role that did not belong to him within the company’s organization chart. The actor wanted to ensure the presence of henry cavill as Superman for the post-credit scene in the film in which he starred and thus envision a confrontation between the two in the future.
For his part, David F. Sandberg, director of Shazam! The Fury of the Gods, had in mind that several characters from the Justice Society of America would make an appearance after the credits of its production, but there was great opposition to it. Johnson was responsible for that decision and prevented Levy from appearing in the post-credits scene of Black Adam for not considering it relevant enough. It must be borne in mind that the two characters are classic comic book nemeses and the existence of the villain was already mentioned in the first Shazam movie, but The Rock opted to ignore details like these.
Recently, during the Oscars, Johnson indicated that the arrival of James Gunn as director of DC Studios was “like changing the coach of a team”, hinting that he was not too happy with the change. One of the people consulted by the publication, a high-ranking Hollywood executive, points out the following:
“Dwayne tries to sell himself as bigger than the movie. He’s one of the few people who always thinks he’s the most important person. The crux of it all boils down to a stated desire on Johnson’s part to build his own brand even at the expense of undermining his own films and other franchises related to them. When he decided he was going to be the center of the DC Universe it required a showdown with Superman”
Shazam himself confirms the information
While all of this has hints of reality, nothing is confirmed… unless Zachary Levi has spoken. The interpreter published on his Instagram account the information revealed along with the phrase “The truth will make you free“. White and in a bottle. In any case, it does not seem that we will see many more movies of the character considering that Sandberg has abandoned the superhero discipline and James Gunn has begun an absolute reboot of DC.
