After 17 long years, a sequel is announced Hellgate: London. The fans didn't even hope anymore, but the original creator Bill Roper he was able to pleasantly surprise them when he announced the signing of a license agreement with HanbitSoft. This concerns the creation of a new AAA game Hellgate for PC and consoles.
We have to make do with the fact that it is created under a working title Hellgate: Redemption and will take place in an unspecified alternate history and demonic apocalypse world.
“I've dreamed of returning to the brand we created in 2007 for many, many years,” Lunacy Games CEO and co-founder Bill Roper said in a press release. “I've always felt like I have a score to settle with Hellgate, which is why our project is called Hellgate: Redemption.”
Roper continued: “Using Unreal Engine 5, cloud game servers, as many out-of-the-box solutions as possible, and great co-development partnerships, we put every dollar into game development and innovation. We retain the core gameplay and story elements of Hellgate: London, but our intention is to create an exciting new experience that takes advantage of the many advancements the industry has made over the past 17 years since the original game was released.”
In addition to the new Hellgate, Roper is also preparing a western survival RPG set in a post-apocalyptic open world. It is supposed to combine realism and graphical fidelity similar to Red Dead Redemption 2. It will focus on exploration and story. An interesting feature is the possibility to turn into a werewolf.
