Deteriorating conditions in the video game market are signing on for more layoffs. They have to say goodbye to 20% of their colleagues in the American studio Deck Ninewhere the games Life is Strange: Before the Storm, Life is Strange: True Colors, Life Is Strange: Remastered Collection and most recently The Expanse: A Telltale Series were created.
According to available information, between 100 and 130 people were employed in the studio before this change. In addition to layoffs, the company proceeded to salary cuts. Otherwise, more people would get fired.
“These people are exceptional, talented and fantastic developers. They've done a tremendous amount of work during their time at Deck Nine Games, and we didn't take this decision lightly. Hire these people if you can, they are fantastic.” CEO Stephan Frost writes in the report. He also complains about the state of the gaming industry, which he blames for the layoffs.
Yesterday, Sony announced the layoffs of around 900 people from its gaming division, including the PlayStation Studios teams. In addition, it canceled London Studio, which most recently created the interactive movie game Erica and the shooter Blood & Truth for PlayStation VR.
