It’s a shame, although it also helps the studio focus on upcoming projects.
The catalog of PlayStation exclusives has always been quite varied, offering us experiences of all kinds, despite the fact that many people end up reducing their catalog to third-person action and adventure titles. The most curious thing is that one of the most groundbreaking exclusives of this company often tends to be forgotten, and that is that it was a title that promised a lot, and it seems that was pushed aside too quickly, so everything was left on deaf ears. Yes, you will have guessed it from the headline, but we are indeed talking about Dreams, a video game that basically allowed us to create our own video games within it, something like what Fortnite has recently done.
At first glance, and if you’ve never gotten around to this title, it might seem like this “failure” (with lots of quotes, since so many people loved this title) was due to a lack of depth, but this really wasn’t the case. It just seems that many players forgot about it very quickly, which is probably one of the reasons why Media Molecule, the studio responsible for this gamehas decided to end support for the game.
Dreams support ends
Specifically, this has been revealed in a statement shared through the game’s official website, in the game it is made quite clear that support for Dreams will cease. To be more specific, they have done it with the following words:
As we have evaluated and evolved our priorities towards the studio and Dreams, we have made the difficult decision to end support for Dreams effective September 1, 2023, in order to focus on our exciting new project.
Also, they have made it clear that this does not mean that the game servers are going to be closed, but simply that they will stop offering updates and new events for this Dreams. This way, if you kept playing this gamedo not be alarmed, because you will be able to continue creating experiences and enjoying those of others without any problem.
Even with the latter, we cannot fail to emphasize how sad it is that a game like Dreams, which aspired to be one of the best PS4 games, has not received the recognition it deserved. Even so, this can also help us to get excited about the following Media Molecule project.
