The Demon of Darkness debut has a grim origin
As we have already mentioned, Fujimoto has given a splendid development to the plot of Chainsaw Manbecause little by little it has been preparing the ground for the introduction of the most interesting and powerful Demons in the series, which are surrounded by a great enigma, which makes the presentation of said entities more striking.
In fact, the mangaka has intelligently addressed various issues that are related to the Demons that come to life in the seriesdoing an incredible job when it comes to presenting these entities, as has been the case with the Demon of the darknesswhose appearance was one of the most amazing and exciting moments he has ever had Chainsaw Man.
And it is that, during the International Assassins arcit could be appreciated powerful and terrifying Demon of Darkness, which is a primal fear that Fujimoto has represented in the best possible way, because as its name indicates, it embodies the fear of humans for the dark. In fact, during his appearance, a disturbing panel is shown in which this entity walks down a hall of astronauts cut in half prayingmaking this moment more gloomy.
However, this creepy appearance has not been random, since apparently, it is a clear reference to an extremely dark event in real lifewell this panel is based on the crew of Apollo 1as three astronauts from the said crew took a picture of themselves holding their hands in prayer as a joke about the Apollo 1 space shuttle miniature.
Subsequently, these astronauts tragically died when the shuttle caught fire during a test launchso this panel could be a clear reference to this event, since it is not the first time that Fujimoto has added real-life events in his series.
Because this primal fear represents darkness, it would not be unreasonable to imagine that this panel is related to this momentsymbolizing the astronauts’ fear of the unknown, failing that, space, since that is treated as the last frontier and the final darkness that surrounds humanity at all times.
There is no doubt that Fujimoto has done a splendid job of presenting the Demon of Darkness in this way.evoking humanity’s fear of the total darkness that prevails in space.
On the other hand, the chainsaw man sleeve has unveiled the terrifying power of Famine, the Famine Demon, and one of the Four Horsemen, giving a small appetizer of the incredible power of some of the most mysterious entities from the series.
