A Quake II Remastered announcement could be on the way for the next Quakecon, according to a leak from a Korean regulator. We tell you all the details, in this note!
Once again the Games Classification and Administration Committee of Korea ahead of us an announcement that is possibly about to drop. This time it is a remake or remaster of one of the most acclaimed shooters of all time, quake II of idSoftware. under the name Quake II Remastered this unannounced remake would bring the game to the present day with cutting-edge graphics but plenty of the fast-paced action that fans remember so fondly.
Although neither idSoftware neither Bethesda neither Microsoft have announced anything, Korean ratings agencies are usually quite reliable. For example, this is how we found out about the remaster of the quake original, prior to its official premiere at the annual gathering of all things id, QuakeCon. Given that the QuakeCon 2023 is scheduled for a little over a month from now, it is quite likely that Quake II Remastered be announced there.
Originally released in 1997, quake II is a science fiction shooter by the creators of the first game and the saga Doomwhere we control the special marine bitterman who must repel an alien invasion in stroggos. Sounds like Doom? Yes, but it has aliens instead of demons and much, much more advanced graphics for one of the first true 3D shooters. This is one of the games that really defined the idea of moving around with WASD and aiming with the mouse.
quake II it received acclaim from critics and fans alike, becoming a mainstay of the first multiplayer games in existence. The possible announcement would come at QuakeCon 2023 that will take place at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas, August 10-13.
