GTA V and GTA Online have been “asking for the time” for a long time, as a good friend would say. The successful delivery of Rockstar Games It celebrates a decade this year (September 17) and has gone through THREE generations of consoles. It’s admirable, and it’s hard to think of a sequel that would achieve the same milestone… although it will.
It is not blameworthy that many players are tired and cry out for the official presentation of GTA VI. However, it has been shown that Rockstar Games has no plans to brake with GTA V and that they are not going to let the game die even with shots… something that has a good side and a bad side. The good is obvious: the commitment of the company with the game is admirable and a Rare avis.
The mala can be summed up with the phrase Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight:”Either you die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become a villain. And maybe someone should drop her off at the Rockstar offices, because some of her latest moves aren’t exactly heroic. The GTA+ subscription service was the first warning.
Another change that absolutely no one has asked for
The San Andreas Mercenaries Expansion gta online arrived last Tuesday, June 13, and added a good amount of content: military-themed story and pilots, a new protagonist named Charlie Reed, missions, events, eight new vehicles (5 cars and 3 ships), weapons, clothing classic characters and more. To tell the truth, the update as such is great and a good excuse to return.
As usual, many players went to the vehicle websites to see all the news and noticed something strange: many were missing. It didn’t take long for the matter to spread through the community and some users began to create a missing list. We are talking about almost 200 vehicles that have flown from the stores. You can see the list on GTA Forums and Reddit.
All these retired vehicles they just disappear from stores from the game, but not from the garages of the owners who bought them at the time. Now there is no way to buy them until Rockstar Games decides to add them back through content rotation in stores or some similar system. They noted that they “will occasionally be available in other ways.”
And why has Rockstar Games made this decision? As they say, they have eliminated a huge number of vehicles that were not bought for improve the shopping experience in the shops. And it would be believable if some of these cars were not yet available to GTA+ subscribersthe game’s monthly subscription service.
That some of the retired cars are available with GTA+ is a problem that is not one bit funny. We are not talking about new exclusive content or a paid expansion with exclusive cars (something I would accept), but about content that has been part of the game for years and can now only be purchased with the subscription or when Rockstar decides to include them.
Cars don’t touch, Rockstar
The cars are one of the main reasons why many players keep playing and come back regularly. In fact, the update includes improvements to the management of garages and cars, something that has been asking for MANY years. It’s hard to think how players can feel like a favor to have so many cars taken from them overnight.
If there’s one thing I’ve never heard anyone say since 2013, it’s that there are too many cars available to buy. I never heard that. Not even once. – Player on Reddit.
The issue of old and less purchased cars goes back a long way. The community has repeatedly pointed out that many cars carry years without receiving improvements customization and statistics. The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions have more detailed cars and exclusive upgrades, but nothing for some who have been online for years. And instead of implementing improvements, Rockstar continues to release new cars like crazy.
Now, if the withdrawal of these cars means that they are going to have aesthetic and personalization improvements upon his occasional return (I bet on a rotation system like in Gran Turismo 7), then we’d be talking about another matter. The company hasn’t flagged any of that, though they don’t usually flag anything until they do, either.
I already know this story…
The disappearance of important content in a video game is not something new, so we already know how this story is going to end. The best example is Destiny 2, another game with some longevity that saw a lot of its content disappear overnight. We talk about entire planets and of full main story chapters (paid DLCs) that are still inaccessible today. And if Bungie has managed to keep the game going empty, Rockstar Games shouldn’t worry in the least.
In conclusion, although we can understand the motives of Rockstar Games, the excuse of making our lives easier when buying simply it does not strain. And I repeat: much less when some are still available to GTA+ subscribers. It’s a move that has tarnished a great update and pissed off the community (more). remove content it’s NEVER a good idea.
