Sega would acquire Rovio for a billion dollars, a very juicy purchase for the Japanese company, since Rovio is responsible for Angry Birds, a game that was a mass phenomenon. It is not unreasonable to see how large companies linked to creating games on consoles/PC are now very interested in the mobile market. This is where a large amount of money moves, and the main players in the sector have recently committed to compete or aspire to do so in the not too distant future.
If and when this deal closes successfully, Sega would be joining all the companies that have invested in entrenched mobile game developers. This would provide Sega with a steady source of income to invest more in projects that generate a reputation for quality, as well as having the experience necessary to create mobile games for its most popular franchises, like Persona and Sonic.
Sega would acquire Rovio for a billion dollars, after another company has failed in the attempt
As The Wall Street Journal reports, Sega’s parent company, Sega Sammy Holdings, would be in negotiations with Rovio Entertainment to acquire it in its entirety. Talks are reported to be quite advanced by now, so if nothing out of the ordinary happens, the purchase should be completed no later than within next week.
The amount to be paid would be billion dollars, a not very high sum considering that it is Rovio, responsible for creating Angry Birds and all its successful spin-offs, always in collaboration with major brands. Star Wars and Transformers are the most popular, and all of these products were huge hits at the time. It is true that lately they do not have a game with all that media weight, but that does not mean that they receive great benefits every year.

Microsoft would also be looking to get Candy Crush, although the truth is that Activision and Blizzard have the same importance judging by the mobile games they have released lately.
