An option to make shooting more accessible for those who are not so skilled in action games of this type, but want to enjoy Star Wars.
After the presentation of Star Wars Outlaws and that extensive gameplay demonstration that we could see at Ubisoft Forward 2023, fans have been looking closely at all the details of this open world action game created by Ubisoft Massive, creators of The Division, and everything seems to indicate that it could count on a well-known Fallout feature among its combat mechanics.
We are talking about VATS, the fallout assisted firing system, known for stopping time and allowing not only to choose between enemies, but also which part of the enemy we want to shoot. In case we want to take a gun out of his hand, shoot him in the leg so he doesn’t run towards us. A nice feature for those who are not too skilled in shooting games.
In a galaxy far, far away, war never changes
During that in-depth look at Star Wars Outlaws’ gameplay options, many fans couldn’t help but notice a moment in the action where the protagonist, kay vess, accurately shoot two guards who chase her in speeder. Shots that he performs through a mechanic that we could compare with the VATS of Fallout, since, although the action does not stop completely, we do see that time slows down and the two enemies glow red intense in front of her. After marking them, he ends up unloading a burst of shots from his blaster on them and manages to escape pursuit.
From what is seen in the gameplay, this mechanic to mark enemies seems to be a typical “bullet time”. somewhere between VATS from Fallout and DeadEye from Red Dead Redemption, although both have their peculiarities that are not fully reflected in Massive’s game. Either way, it’s a nice addition to Star Wars Outlaws for those drawn to the game. more for the adventure and its history, than for its action component.
Star Wars Outlaws does not yet have a specific release date, but we know that will arrive in 2024 to Xbox, PlayStation and PC consoles with interesting novelties in the classic Ubisoft formula.
