One of the most anticipated games of the year will not be playable in Russian…
Bethesda has decided to remove Russian as the official language of its next big release: Starfield., a sci-fi role-playing game that will have its own live event. The decision has been made without being communicated, since the PCGamer medium was in charge of breaking the news after a Steam change log detected the disappearance of Russian as the language of the game on April 11.
Although Bethesda has not explained the reasons for the decision, there are those who already speculate that it is a principled position against the war that began more than a year ago in Ukraine. Beyond the cost reduction that he assumes, it should be remembered that Starfield will not be sold in Russia to comply with international sanctions against the Russian government. However, removing Russian also generates some complaints, especially from non-war players, including many Ukrainians who also speak Russian.
There are so many companies far from wanting to reach Russia that Putin’s government has already announced the development of its own “national game engine and electronic art“. One of the main games affected was STALKER 2.which had to stop its development since the physical study was in Ukraine.
Starfield already has a release date
Starfield, which received an 18+ age rating in Australia, will be officially released next September 6 for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC. The first new universe in 25 years by Bethesda Game Studios will take place in a next-generation role-playing game set among the stars, where you can create any character you want and explore with unprecedented freedom as you embark on an epic journey to unravel the humanity’s greatest mystery.
