Meta introduced Take It Down, the new tool to prevent the spread of intimate images on Facebook and Instagram. We tell you all the info here!
The company of mark zuckerberg, Goalannounced a new tool for Facebook and instagrammy call take it down. The main objective of this is to prevent the dissemination of intimate images on these social networks. This feature is launched to protect the right to privacy, as there is currently no local or global legislation that defends users who suffer from unapproved dissemination of this type of content.
take it down allows each person to indicate, privately, that a photo or video could have been published without their consent on the Internet and delete the file automatically. The tool, which comes to us in web page formatwas created together with him National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) of USA; but everyone can access the service.
But this is not all, since take it down It is also dedicated to the detection and elimination of intimate content related to young people and minors in case they are disseminated in Facebook, Instagram, OnlyFans and Yubo. This free service is easy to use and the victim only needs to have a copy of the leaked file and give it a detection tag without having to share the content with the platform.
To use it we only have to fill out a form. First, we enter take it down and we clicked “Begin”, which appears in the first tab at the top of the screen. Once inside the platform, we will have a form where we will place the approximate age of the user along with the type of content that the photo we want to delete has. We also have to define what was leaked (if photo or video), if the nudity is partial or total or if it is sexually explicit content. And in case the answer is yes, it will have to be indicated if it has already been shared before.
Once the form is completed, we have to select the files that contain the intimate images that we have just reported. Something that the platform clarifies is that this does not imply sharing the content with them, but that the image or video data will be used to give each user an identification code. This is called hash and yes it is shared with the system. Thanks to this, the content can be detected regardless of the platform it is on without the need to share it. If the victim is of legal age, take it down send us directly to stopNCIIwhich has a similar approach but for people with more than 18 years. This tool is now available globally for all users.
