We are just a few days away from the Elden Ring board game landing with its Kickstarter campaign thanks to Steamforged Games. Although the original version of Miyazaki is characterized by not being lenient with the player, this time our time will be respected.
Or at least that is what Mat Hart, creative director of the company, has promised in statements to Wargame. “We want every player at the table to participate. And nobody has real downtime because they’re always constantly interacting,” says lead designer Sherwin Matthews.
And it is that the games to Elden Ring will last a maximum of two hours, so the wait will not be eternal for our turn to play. We can only carry out three actions per turn, so speed will distinguish the board game. “Not only is it respectful of players’ time, it’s the right way to keep them engaged and excited about the gaming experience,” says Matthews.
While playing the digital edition we constantly die until we learn the pattern of the bosses, bringing exactly that game scheme to the table is not the most recommended. “That doesn’t always have to be represented in exactly the same way as in the video game, as long as people still find it very evocative of what is the core experience of Elden Ring“, says the designer.
Yeah we’ll have to face tough enemies of the Middlelands, but the truth is that everything will work as a combat puzzle. We will have several lives and will have to choose “a different approach” for each occasion.
