This year, the series MechWarrior will return to its roots on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. In the Piranha Games studio, they will continue the successful fifth part with the subtitle Mercenaries and bring players a new campaign with a linear story of the Smoke Jaguar clan in 3050 during the conflict known as the Invasion of the Clans.
Despite the same name, it will be a standalone game that naturally builds on the solid foundation of MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries and improves upon it. The big difference is the emphasis on a single-player story campaign and cooperative multiplayer for up to five players.
The campaign consists of story based missions, which are carefully structured to follow the story and put the player in different situations in the role of a promising young pilot of a giant mech. You've just completed intensive training on Huntress, the home planet of the Smoke Jaguar Clan, and yet you'll become an important member of the five-man Star Squad and find yourself in the middle of a major war and massive invasion that is central to the BattleTech universe. There will also be personal conflicts.
The vast campaign takes place on many planets with diverse biomes on carefully crafted maps and missions with engrossing gameplay and complex combat. You will have a variety of mechs at your disposal that can be modified and equipped with the latest technology and weapons. The developers promise a dynamic game experience with an original combat system and extraordinary visuals thanks to Unreal Engine 5. The equipment from Epic Games is supposed to enable a world full of stunning environmental details and elaborate destruction.
Today we can watch a minute-long gameplay clip focusing on the five pilots of the Smoke Jaguar clan, who mobilize to help their clanmates in a large-scale invasion.
