Toys for Bob separates from Activision Blizzard and becomes an independent studio. Looks like the creators of Crash and Spyro have a deal with Microsoft. This is indicated by information that they are not opposed to future cooperation with Microsoft.
Activision bought California-based Toys for Bob in 2005. Since then, the team has created the Skylanders series, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, Crash Team Rumble, and collaborated on Call of Duty, including Warzone, Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3.
At Toys for Bob now they are working on a new title. It is in early development and is not Crash or Spyro. But we still have to wait for the details, the announcement is far away.
“Over the years, we have awakened the love, joy and laughter of the inner child in all players. At Skylanders, we pioneered a new brand and hardware technology. In Spyro Reignited Trilogy, we've raised the bar for best-in-class remasters. We've taken Crash Bandicoot to new, innovative and critically acclaimed heights. With the same enthusiasm and passion, we believe it's time to take the studio and our future games to the next level. This opportunity allows us to return to our roots as a small and nimble studio.” Paul Yan and Avery Lodato, principals of Toys for Bob, said in a statement.
“Our friends at Activision and Microsoft have been very supportive of our new direction, and we are confident that we will continue to work closely together as part of our future. So keep your fingers crossed and look out for more news. Thank you to our gaming community for continuing to support us on our journey. We can't wait to share information about our new adventure as an independent studio with you.” they added.
With this step in mind, it will stop Crash Team Rumble receive new content. The crazy game was originally planned to be in development for several years. Not even a year after release, support ends. The last update will be released on Monday, March 4th. Servers will remain operational, microtransactions will be disabled, and players will gain access to a battle pass containing 500 levels, 104 items, and content from the first and third seasons.
What will happen next with Crash and Spyro has not been announced at the moment. It is possible that another studio within Activision Blizzard, or Xbox Game Studios, will take over the games.
