When it comes to talking about sports video game franchises, some of the most popular are FIFA and Madden NFL for the number of titles they have received throughout their history. This last one, dedicated to American football, will receive an adaptation in the form of a film that will focus on tell the story of John Madden himselfwho passed away last year, as Deadline has been able to claim.
It is a project based on a script by Cambron Clark that would be directed by the director David O Russell (The Great American Hustle), while the actor Will Ferrell would be in charge of interpreting John Madden himself for this film that would initially be released on Prime Video.
The feature film would not show his life in full, such as his time as an American footballer. In his place, it would focus on the moment in which he retired and became an NFL coach, which led him to win a Super Bowl and be a commentator on this sport, but above all, how he helped co-create the Madden NFL video game series of Electronic Arts.
The success of this franchise is indisputable and in the coming months it will receive its new annual installment under the name of Madden NFL 24. Even so, for the moment Amazon has not made any comments about it, so we will have to wait to find out if this biopic it ends up coming true.
