Technical issues and complaints about the addition of microtransactions didn't stop z Dragon's Dogma 2 became a successful game. Capcom boasted that it sold worldwide more than 2.5 million pieces on all platforms. The entire series exceeded the milestone of 10 million units. That includes the original Dragon's Dogma as well as the Dark Arisen expansion.
The second installment of the fantasy RPG only came out on March 22nd, so it's off to a great start. The question is how he will continue. Dragon's Dogma 2 has major issues on both PC and consoles. On PC it is a very bad optimization, with which even the latest graphics cards have problems. On consoles the framerate is very fluctuating and regularly drops to around 25. Not to mention the additional addition of microtransactions. Because of all this, Dragon's Dogma 2 is on Steam mixed user reviews (58% of 50,504 users gave the game a positive rating) and on Metacritic, the PS5 version has a 6.2/10 from the community, while 85/100 from journalists.
The situation has not yet been corrected by the first update. It brought the ability to turn off motion blur, added a lock for 30 frames or switch ray tracing. Big changes are promised in the next patch, including better optimization on PCs and consoles.
Meanwhile, in a press release, Capcom praises the innovative features of Pawns, which allow players to enjoy an elaborate and realistic fantasy environment while simultaneously experiencing an adventure in a group of up to four people controlled by artificial intelligence. The Japanese company also attributes its success to various promotional activities. Among other things, it resembles a demo version, or a free editor where you could create a character in advance. This “demo” was meant to help attract new players who had no experience with Dragon's Dogma yet.
