Although there is still a long way to go before we can enjoy a new season, The Boys is currently one of the best superhero series from the actuality. Her bizarre style, her crazy story and her acid humor have positioned her as the best thing you can find in Amazon Prime Video and in the superhero industry in general. The third season will be the crowning moment of the series.
And although characters like The Patriot or Butcher are the main stars of the series, this last season introduced us to someone who quickly won the affection of the entire public: Soldier Boy. Interpreted by Jensen Ackles, this parody of Captain America dazzled fans of the franchise from the first minute. However, what no one knows is that the actor who ultimately landed the role of this character was not among the favorites to play him. This is how Ackles himself tells it through an interview with Discussing Film:
“Apparently, there was a list of names they were talking about in the studio. I certainly wasn’t on that list, and it was made up of names much better known than mine. But I told him I was ready to fight, and he said, ‘If you’re willing to fight for it, maybe I can help you.’ And he did. I had to record myself, this was during COVID, so I didn’t really have any help doing it. I had to pre-record the lines from the other person, which turned out to be Butcher. Luckily, I had Kripke as a trainer and he was able to put the best tape I could muster on. He sent it to the studio, got everyone’s OK, and that’s how it happened. But I fought to it, man. I fought hard for it.”
As the actor recounts, the casting process to play this character was quite complicated, since, due to the COVID time, all the actors had to perform in front of a camera instead of in a physical location alongside the casting director. Fortunately, the series director had already worked with Ackles on Supernaturalso his help was vital in evaluating the actor’s performance as Soldier Boy.
It is still unknown if Soldier Boy will be present in the new season of The Boys, but his participation in the series has been enough to become one of the best characters in the entire series. Regarding the release date of the fourth season, Prime Video It has not announced anything yet, but everything indicates that its launch is scheduled for mid-2024.
