When it seemed that the purchase of Activision Blizzard would speed up their processes to close the issue as soon as possible, a new problem could end up causing it to dilute more over time. These days we have been able to learn that, after the precautionary measure filed by the FTC, a federal judge decided to initiate a trial to try to determine whether or not the highest American competition agency had sufficient reasons to request it.
This movement, despite what it implies, was celebrated even by Brad Smith, president of Microsoft, since it meant an acceleration of a procedure that was scheduled to end during the month of August. However, the latest official information on the procedure could cause a delay in the purchase of Activision Blizzarddue to the possible lack of impartiality of the judge in charge.
The California federal judge overseeing the FTC’s bid to block Microsoft’s $68.7 billion merger with Activision disclosed at a hearing Wednesday that her son works for Microsoft, then moved on to setting out the ground rules for a high-stakes five-day

The son of the federal judge handling the Activision Blizzard purchase case works at Microsoft
As reported Robert Serrano, the son of the federal judge which handles the FTC proceeding against Microsoft for the purchase of Activision Blizzard, is currently employed by the Redmond company. This has raised the alarms of those who have been following the cause, since it could cause a considerable delay in the time to solve the problem.
The main reason for this possible delay is the possible lack of impartiality of the Judge. One of the principles of any judicial body is the impartiality of the case being judged. In this case, the judge, being the parent of one of the workers of one of the companies that is part of the process, this could cause a certain bias in his ruling, thus skipping one of the most important principles of said body.

For now, it is not known if there has been any movement in this regard, either by the judge himself making the case available to the judicial body, or by any of the parties involved (such as the FTC) to request a change of judge. In the event that this occurs, the process must be delayed for a few more days, until the judicial body appoints a new owner to take charge of it.
Therefore, now all that remains is to wait and see if there will be any movement of this type in the coming days, or if the procedure will finally take place as originally planned.
