The story of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has a long run. Filming for the second season finished a few months ago and its new batch of episodes is scheduled to premiere sometime this year. Even so, Amazon MGM Studios has its sights set much further still.
As The Hollywood Reporter has been able to report, the company has given green light for the production of a future third season. To do this, he has signed a new three-year contract with Patrick McKay and JD Payne, the duo who were in charge of writing and serving as executive producers of the first season of the series that is available to watch on Prime Video.
All the details related to this third part remain kept completely secret, something understandable considering that we don't even know what will happen in the second season that we will see in the coming months. Vernon Sandersdirector of television at Amazon MGM Studios, wanted to express his joy in this regard with the following statements:
We started this extraordinary journey with JD and Patrick over five and a half years ago and have never looked back. We continue to be amazed by the scope and scale of his vision and the enormous global success that The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has achieved in its record-breaking first season. We can't wait for Prime Video users to experience the epic adventure and high-stakes drama that JD and Patrick continue to build throughout season two and beyond. Naturally, the studio is thrilled to expand our overall agreement with these brilliant creative minds as they continue to deliver their passion for telling great stories.
From the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Some details have been shed in recent days to indicate that the new episodes will be much darker, more daring, with harsher moments and very unexpected script twists compared to what was seen in the first season. The expectation is more than served.
