Few more important legends in the history of video games than Peter Molyneux. The English developer has always been characterized as a visionary whose promises about his games have almost never been fulfilled. Perhaps not everything that has come out of his mouth we saw on the screen, but that has not prevented him from presenting us with games with interesting ideas.
One of them is the legendary Fable, which is available on Xbox Game Pass for Xbox One, Xbox Series and Xbox Cloud Gaming in its Anniversary version. One of the most remembered RPGs that shaped a franchise with several installments and that is getting closer to returning. And it is that Playground Games has taken the reins of the license to make the leap from the curves of Forza Horizon to a medieval fantasy without equal.
The success of fable can easily be gauged from the fact that it’s the best-selling RPG on the original Xbox. Obviously we are not going to play the 2004 version, but a HD remastering of the original that offers revamped textures, revamped 3D models, improved lighting, a friendlier interface, and achievements to squeeze even more out of the title. As if that were not enough, the content of The Lost Chapters is also included so we don’t miss a single mission.
The world of Albion opens before us so that we can take the path we see fit. We can make our character become a hero or a villain depending on the decisions we make, earning ourselves a reputation that will echo throughout the region. Of course we are talking about a more than solid experience thanks to the great work of the defunct Lionhead Studios, but Molyneux went so far as to comment that we would see “the best game ever”.
Not only that, but he mentioned that in Fable we could have children, we would live the whole life of the character and that if we threw an acorn from a tree, it would grow into a tree of its own. None of it actually happened, but for a long time Molyneux kept us drooling over similar statements.
