The history of GTA V has won the hearts of all fans of the franchise. Regardless of whether you like more or less the number of characters and each one of them, the reality is that it is a crazy experience full of American stereotypes, action, humor and high doses of madness.
In this publication I tell you what happened to Michael, Trevor Y Franklinprotagonists of the game, after the events of the GTA V campaign. Needless to say, there will be SPOILERS from the end of the story. The online version of the game has some hints.
Connecting the dots in GTA V and GTA Online
GTA V has three possible endings: A: Kill Trevor, B: Kill Michael Y C: risk your life (all three live). This decision is made from Franklin’s phone. There has been much debate as to which of the endings is canon. The eternal dilemma of LO CANON in any franchise. There is some consensus and the third ending is the most accepted by the community.
The three characters end up alive, agreeing to be friends, with a grass that you freak out and without moving with anyone. Everyone who would like to see them dead is either dead or emailing their cell phone saying all is well for some reason you may or may not understand. That said, let’s go to the second point.
GTA VI doesn’t look like it’s going to provide answers, so players have searched GTA Online for the answers. Here arises another dilemma that has broken friendships over the years: Is it gta online canon with respect to GTA V?, or is it an alternate universe? Once again, there is no agreement… although the last expansions have created some consensus that it is.
So we assume that GTA V ends with ending C and that GTA Online is connected to the campaign. Before going into the matter, note that this information is NOT official. That GTA V and GTA Online were connected would cause some discrepancies, but boy… spinning a decade of stories is not easy. In short: they are theories (more or less solid) that the community has come up with over the years.
What happened to Michael, Trevor and Franklin from GTA V?
Let’s start with the simplest. Trevor is the host of some of the missions in GTA Online. The business of this protagonist is not as well organized or as ambitious as we saw in the story. This means two things: that GTA Online takes place in time and the story of GTA V is one of many, or that Trevor has relaxed a bit after the events of the story.
And what finally happened to Trevor? The expansion GTA Online Smuggler’s Run (smuggling missions) shows a cinematic in which Ron, Trevor’s partner, tells us:
“That motherfucker Tre…uh, my best friend…he was supposed to protect me forever and he goes all Vinewood…he’s too important to Ron now. He’s a guru. He’s a coach lifestyle. I don’t even know what it is. I’m sure he’s got abs. I’m so lonely.”
This could support the theory that GTA Online takes place in time and the missions we do with Trevor happen before the story, then the GTA V story and finally the GTA Online Smuggler’s Run cinematic. Don’t make too much sense out of it. I think not Rockstar does.
GTA Online: The Contract, the true point and end
The contract It is considered as the last great and good expansion of GTA Online. In addition, it has dialogues that clarify what happened to the three protagonists after the story of GTA V.
Franklin: from the street to the mansions
Franklin He leaves the streets, shootings and assaults to set up an agency that deals with solving the shady affairs of millionaires and celebrities. In movie parlance: he’s a Mr. Wolf on steroids. Expansion introduces rapper and producer dr dre as one of your clients.
And the thing does not end here! It is revealed that Franklin marries and has children with Tanisha, who leaves him during the GTA V story. A drama of love affairs and “money has changed you” that you freak out. That’s not the point. You can go to Franklin’s house in GTA Online and see “The Clintons” by the front door.
Michael: Living the American Dream
the fate of Michael it is revealed in one of the missions of The Contract that takes place in the golf course and whose objective is “Ram the golf carts”. Passing by the Film Studios, Franklin opens a dialogue and says:
“Fuck, I know one of the producers here. I hope he’s not working today…”
This reference is tricky for those of you who don’t know the history of GTA V. The only character that fits the description is Michael, whose dream was enter the film industry to make movies. In the story mode he gets to produce a movie, so it’s not strange to think that he finally fulfilled his dream.
Trevor: always elegance and good taste
Finding the references to Trevor in The Contract is much more complicated than it seems. It is impossible for anyone who is not willing to explore and read dialogue. Something that, let’s be honest, the average user of GTA Online does not.
You should take a couple of turns around the contract office as you progress through the expansion to have Franklin discuss your battles with Trevor, thus showing how knowledgeable he is:
“So you know Trevor Philips? I heard you worked with him a while back.”
Furthermore, one of his receptionists tells you a story that is simply unmistakable:
“Hey, some crazy guy stopped by earlier, dressed like a bum. He came in really nervous. He swore that he and Mr. Clinton used to work together. He got really pissed off when I told him Mr. Clinton wasn’t available. I had to stop him from shitting in the middle of it. off the desk, literally.”
These dialogues confirm that Franklin knows Trevor and that GTA Online would take place over time, before and after GTA V. It is likely that Trevor looking for Franklin in the agency to solve some move and that he has not changed his ways despite the money he earned during the history of the game.
In any case, these are the fates of Michael, Trevor and Franklin based on what is shown in GTA V and GTA Online. Rockstar has not confirmed or denied this information, so we can only theorize.
