As we already informed you at the beginning of 2022, the game director of The Witcher 3 Konrad Tomaszkiewicz founded his own company Rebel Wolves after his departure from the CD Projekt RED studio. Less than two years ago, it was also reported that Tomaszkiewicz did not leave alone, but that he was accompanied by other important members of the Witcher 3 team, such as screenwriter Jakub Szamałek, lead animator Tamara Zawada or art director Bartłomiej Gaweł. This also indicated great ambitions, which, according to the latest information from an insider nicknamed Kurakasis, are beginning to materialize. And specifically in the form of a dark fantasy RPG that is supposed to run on Unreal Engine 5.
Rebel Wolves, a studio formed by CD Projekt RED veterans, is working on a game potentially titled
DAWNWALKER: ORIGINS
The first title in the DAWNWALKER Saga.

Kurakasis, who we mentioned on Vortex, for example, in connection with news about The Division Heartland, a new game in the Might & Magic series or a sequel to Prison Architect, collected all the information he knew and shared it in a longer tweet. First of all, he states that the new project will be called Dawnwalker: Origins and is supposed to be the first part of the planned saga. Among other things, the name is to be based on the newly registered domains dawnwalker.com and dawnwalkeroriginsthegame.com, behind which the Rebel Wolves studio stands as its own.
Furthermore, Kurakasis adds a mention that it will be a single-player story RPG with a dark fantasy setting in a brand new world. As we already indicated in the introduction, the game should rely on the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5 from a technical point of view and is created as a AAA title. But Kurakasis went further and also collected information from various advertisements and also from the studio’s profile on the LinkedIn network, where there was already silent talk about the game’s own development. Dawnwalker is said to be in the alpha phase, and a month ago the developers also shared a concept of the city in which part of the story will likely take place. “While there’s still a lot of work ahead of us, with such a great wolf pack, we know the RPG of our dreams is within reach,” the developers said in the post linked to by the insider.
If we were to add some more details, Kurakasis also cites an ad through which Rebel Wolves studio is looking for a gameplay designer. According to the requirements, he should have experience with elements of open-world games, from which we can partially conclude that Dawnwalker will also walk in this direction. From an interview with the Game World Observer magazine, which was created already in May 2022, it follows that the game should not have any microtransactions, and from later mentions of development it also became clear that almost 100 people are currently working on it. The information about the involvement of NetEase, which became a shareholder of Rebel Wolves, but only a minority without ambitions to manage the studio, cannot be left out.
Kurakasis then ends his post on Twitter with a set of images he managed to find in the depths of the internet. It is both the Dawnwalker logo and mostly monster concepts or a picture on the wall in the studio’s kitchen, which underlines the medieval or fantasy setting of the future project.
