Hello my beautiful people… today we are going to comment on this League of Legends spin-off that tries to expand the lore of the world of Runeterra. Work of the people at Tequila Works, representing the now defunct Riot Forge (obviously, a division of Riot Games).
Song of Nunu: a League of Legends Story It is available for PC, Nintendo switch, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
In this game we will be playing one (or two) of the classic champions of the League of Legends: Nunu and Willump. For those who have played LOL at least once in the last 15 years, they should know who we are talking about, but those who don't know them should not worry, in this game it will be well explained who they are. Nunu is a boy from the Notai tribe who is looking for his missing mother, who speaks to him in his dreams and tells him to look for “the heart of blue.” Willump is the last yeti and Nunu's best friend. Together they will explore the frozen region of Freljord in search of the winged mountain and the heart of blue.
The adventure consists of a 3D platform game with many puzzles that will increase in difficulty as we progress. Occasionally we will have some combat of generally low difficulty. As we progress we will hear Nunu translate what Willump has to say with his guttural sounds and he will act as translator/narrator. The development of the main characters is slow but progressive and puts the strong point on the friendship between the yeti and the child. However, the development of other characters such as Lissandra the ice witch (antagonist and another LOL champion) is not as deep.
The Nordic aesthetics of the settings, the visual art and the multiple details that relate to LOL make the game visually very attractive.
Regarding the sound section: it is one of the strongest points of the game. The music is very good, the voices are correct and they do a good job of translating into Spanish.
One of the best sound details is the flute that Nunu carries, which will help us use different combinations of notes and open doors in the puzzles.
The gameplay is relatively simple, we have very few skills at the beginning, which gradually increase as the game progresses. It's notable that some of these skills aren't actually that useful since we'll be using them at very specific times and they don't add much to the overall move repertoire.
The bad thing is quite notable is that there is a certain lag in some movements; We will also have to occasionally suffer from a glitch that will cause Willump to get stuck somewhere and cannot continue (it happened to me twice in the first 2 hours of playing, which is a lot for a game that lasts between 6 and 8 hours).
